What CrossFit has taught me about life

They are the best in the world right now

In this article, I will share some thoughts I have learnt while taking part in the sport of CrossFit.

If you have never heard of CrossFit, I will encourage you to watch ‘Redeemed of the Dominant’ on Netflix. Beware you may be enticed and want to begin CrossFit the following day. That’s how I started.

Growing up, I was always into sports. I liked playing football and rugby. I enjoyed running long distances and often took part in these during our sports days at school.

The only problem was that I was never the best at anything.

I was always ok, at most things.

I hated that so much.

I always wanted to be the best at something. Like ‘this thing’ was my thing.

Do you know what I mean?

But it was never the case.

As I got older, I got discouraged from pursuing sports because I was never ‘good’ at anything.

I just assumed, if I was not good at something when I was growing up, I would never be good at that.

What a lie that is!

I have learnt as I have gotten older that almost any skill can be harnessed, and you can get better with deliberate practice and by showing up every day even if you don’t feel like it!
